Eyes of the Beholder

A piece I created to tell the story of a creature called a Beholder from the Dungeons & Dragons universe who lives a simple life but dreams of an iconic movie monster like Godzilla or King Kong. A Beholder has a bunch of tentacled eye-stalks that each cast a different type of magical spell (fire, ice, lightning, telekinesis, etc.) I used that concept to show the creature making its breakfast and doing its household chores.

I had just discovered After Effects but I used every trick I knew to put this piece together. I used some old music I knew from watching “Ren & Stimpy” cartoons and took a lot of inspiration from “Aqua Teen Hunger Force.” The beginning and end titles were created in Cinema 4D, some of my first work in that software.
